  • Thyroid nodules: Thyroid nodules are overgrowths of thyroid tissues inside the gland that are usually benign but can be malignant in some situations. They are abnormal, but in most cases, they are easily corrected. Some people only have a single nodule, while others have multiple nodules. The nodules on the thyroid gland might be solid or filled with blood and other fluids.
  • Thyroid cancer: Thyroid carcinoma is a disease that affects the thyroid gland when the cells inside your gland undergo genetic alterations (mutations). Mostly, the causes are unknown but might be genetic or environmental factors. The mutations allow the cells to reproduce and expand quickly. The cells also lose their ability to perish in the same way that regular cells do.
