Thyroid disorders are known to affect one in every eight women at some point in their lives. And surprisingly, up to 60% of people aren't aware of it. So what does that tell you? For the same reason, the thyroid gland has control over and access to all of your metabolic responses. So it's no surprise that it needs some attention every now and then.!
Thyroid hormones :
Thyroxine released by the thyroid gland is in charge of maintaining bodily homeostasis and the other crucial hormone, calcitonin, regulates the body's calcium levels.
This 2-inch, butterfly shaped gland,

Thyroid illness causes the thyroid gland to become hyperactive or underactive resulting in hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism respectively.
When your thyroid gland produces more thyroid hormones than your body requires, you have hyperthyroidism, or an overactive thyroid.
Hypothyroidism and a slowdown of biological functioning can occur when your thyroid does not emit enough hormones into your blood. This could lead to more significant issues, such as excessive cholesterol and heart problems.

Are you doubtful if your Menstrual issues and Thyroid are connected?
Here's an answer for you. If you're having issues with your menstrual cycle then there is a chance that it is because the gland is having a difficult time. So instead of barking up the wrong tree it's better you get your thyroid tested.! Your thyroid aids in the regulation of the menstrual cycle. Your periods may become very light, heavy, or irregular if you have too much or too little thyroid hormone.
Thyroid disease can induce amenorrhea, which is when your periods stop for several months or more. Other glands, including your ovaries, may also be affected if your immune system causes thyroid disease. Early menopause may result from this as well (before age 40). So Ladies.. if you get a positive thyroid diagnosis, don't freak out. Let's take a firm stand against it. Particularly for all the females out there.!! It's no big deal if you take proper care and be wise enough to do what's necessary.
Ayurveda and Thyroid disorders
Thyroid problems like any other diseases are classified into doshas in Ayurveda. Hypothyroidism is categorized into five types based on whether it is caused by Vata, Pitta, Kapha, (Air, Fire and Water elements in the body) or urinary tract infections (mainly in females), and ultimately the "goiter" type, which is characterized by a noticeable swelling of the thyroid gland around the neck. The advanced stage of Kapha-induced hypothyroidism is thought to be the "goiter" variety. Furthermore, the Vata-induced disease contains a psychological component caused by mental agitation and stress, as well as a physical component caused by excessive physical exertion. And Pitta is the sole cause of hyperthyroidism.
In Ayurveda, treatment is prescribed after determining the fundamental cause of the disorder. For instance, suppose you had a condition of goiter, medicines will be provided to bring the Kapha dosha back into balance. As a result, Ayurveda delivers a patient-centered approach. And chronic conditions like thyroid issues are best assisted with Ayurveda.
So are there natural ways for thyroid care?
1. Hamsapadadi Kwath : Hamsapadi herb works in both hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism since it is a thyroid gland regulator. It also alleviates hyperthyroidism symptoms such as uneasiness, hyperactivity, heat sensitivity, anxiety, and irritability. It helps to strengthen muscles that have become weak as a result of the thyroid gland's malfunctioning, as well as improve sleep.
2. Kanchanar guggulu : Kanchanara is a wonderful ayurvedic medication that aids in thyroid hormone secretion and its regulation. It aids in improving glandular activity, which helps to minimize goiter-related swelling.
