Punarnavasava Syrup is a herbal medicine by Kerala Ayurveda, formulated to promote the health of kidneys and urinary tract. It may also help prevent urinary tract infections (UTI), prevent retention of fluid, and other urogenital infections.

UTI can be an extremely painful condition. It is characterized by frequent urination urges and blood in the urine.

Taking this Ayurvedic medicine for urine infection can help you get your health and life back to normal.

This Ayurvedic medicine for kidney health has prominent ingredients.

  • Hogweed or Punarnava - thanks to its diuretic property, it minimizes the risk of urinary infections and complications.
  • Puncture vine or Gokshura- gokshura possesses antioxidant properties, which help eliminate toxins from the kidney and urinary tract.
  • Pointed gourd or Patola - helps prevent excess fluid retention in the body and can relieve edema.
  • Wild eggplant or Kantakari - belongs to the Dasamoola group of herbs that helps enhance renal functions and ensure calcium and uric acid at their optimum levels.
  • Malabar nut, or Vasa- it’s a natural diuretic that supports renal functions.
  • Fire flame bush or Dhataki is used as a catalyst for fermenting all Sandhana Kalpana or biomedical fermented herbal formulations.
  • Ginger: Ginger promotes kidney health through cleansing action and eliminates kidney stones.
  • Long pepper: It supports kidney function and helps eliminate toxins from the body.
  • Maricha (Pepper): Thanks to its anti-inflammatory properties, it helps manage pain and inflammation in the urinary tract.

The recommended dosage for adults is 2-3 tsp (15-25 ml) twice daily after a meal. However, the dosage for children must be reduced to 1-2 tsp (5-15 ml). It should be taken twice daily after a meal or as directed by the physician. While it is safe for 2-3 months, you must consult an Ayurveda practitioner for long-term use.

The color and consistency of the asava may vary with the season; however, that does not affect its efficacy.

Who should use it: Recommended for all age groups.

People prone to acidity should take asava with 1/2 tsp ghee and avoid it at night. Asava is not recommended during the pregnancy and lactating phase.

Here are some of the main Punarnavasava benefits:

  • Natural diuretic- Kerala Ayurveda Punarnavasava is a fermented blend of natural diuretics, such as punarnava and gokshura. These ingredients prevent fluid retention in the body.
  • Enhances kidney function- Punarnavasava contains herbs like kantakari and punarnava that support the renal system and revitalize kidneys for optimum function.
  • Reduces swelling and edema- Punarnavasava supports the kidney function to get rid of excess fluid from the body, reducing swelling around the eyes and relieving edema.
  • Regulates the urine flow- Kerala Ayurveda Punarnavasava helps clean the urinary tract and manage the symptoms of dysuria or mutrakrichra. This herbal renal tonic also ensures normal urine flow.
  • Eliminates accumulated toxins- Punarnavasava helps eliminate toxins that may have accumulated in the blood. It also regulates blood urea, uric acid, and creatinine level and maintains a healthy electrolyte balance.
