Shirodhara – The Sacred Oil Meditation Therapy

This therapy is also called “third eye oil meditation” because during the therapy the vital point or called the third eye gets stimulated. The third eye is situated in the middle of the forehead, exactly in the gap between the two eyebrows. According to the Hindu mythology, it is the gate that leads to inner realms and the place of highest divine energy.

Shirodhara was once reserved only for Maharajas and warriors

This ancient royal therapy brings a deeper connection to divinity, energize our body-mind balance and embrace our inner sparkle. During the Vedic period, this therapy was exclusively reserved for Kings and warriors to relieve their tension and to make them rejuvenated.

It is difficult to name another stress relieving technique that is as effective as Shirodhara. In Ayurveda, it is said that this sacred oil meditation when regularly practiced sets an abundant vibration and takes you into a world of peace and tranquility but these days, few people know about it.

How it works?

Shirodhara is indeed a deeply relaxing technique, which brings a perfect relaxant state. During the therapy, the brain tends to release specific biochemical energy that acts as a chemical messenger for the perfect healing of body – mind and soul. This magical effect is mediated by the brain wave coherence, Alfa waves, and a down regulation of the sympathetic outflow. Thus therapy makes us feel more alive, healthier and more enthusiastic in life.

Shirodhara has been traditionally shown to be effective in treating anxiety and depression naturally as an anti- depressant drug can. It also helps to deal with the modern psychological problem a common man faces today like fatigue, stress, mental exhaustion, anxiety, fear, worry, loneliness, insomnia, some mental disarrays, headache, excessive thinking and nervousness. Relaxing your mind and body is the ultimate way to relieve these symptoms.
